It’s happening again: Substantial’s 2026 Think Different Tribute Jam, featuring his band, The Sun’s Hues. The show will also feature performances from Javier Starks, Orion Song, and many others, and it’s going down Friday, February 6, 2026 at 7PM EST at Crescendo Studios in Falls Church, VA. This legendary night will be hosted by MC/Author, Black Root.

If you were at the very first Tribute Jam last year, you already understand how special this night will be to serious fans of Substantial and his body of work. This event serves as an annual celebration and dedication to the late great producer, Nujabes, Substantial’s musical mentor; this year, in addition to that, we will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of Sub’s debut album, 2001’s To This Union A Sun Was Born, which was produced by the forementioned Japanese beat maker, and the late Monorisick/DJ Deckstream. With all that being said, expect a healthy dose of fan favorites, deep cuts, and future favorites on the menu.

There will be local breakers in attendance to start the party, and there will also be live art, once again, from the talented Shani Shih.
