This is a friendly reminder that Substantial’s 2026 Think Different Tribute Jam, featuring his band, The Sun’s Hues, Javier Starks, Shani Shih, and many others, is happening Friday, February 6, 2026 at 7PM at Crescendo Studios in Falls Church, VA – less than two weeks away! This event will be hosted by the very talented Black Root, and it is sure to be a show you do not want to miss.

This year, we are dedicating our performances to not only the late, great Nujabes, but to the late legendary producer, Monorisick/DJ Deckstream (“Home Sweet Home”, “Cim”, “Destination Sky”), and their efforts on Substantial’s groundbreaking debut LP, 2001’s To This Union A Sun Was Born, which is celebrating its 25th year of worldwide recognition. Every aspect of Hip Hop will be represented at this event – breaking, DJing, street art, and of course, MCing at its finest.

General Admission tickets are still available; Both VIP ticket tiers are also available, but extremely limited. The lower VIP tier gets you early access to the performance and an opportunity to mingle with Substantial and the other performers. The upper VIP tier will not only get you early access, but it will also provide you with an opportunity to view Substantial’s forthcoming documentary, commemorating the 25th anniversary of To This Union A Sun Was Born, and a special VIP brunch with the performers the following day.
