Hymnal for the Lamented (Audio)

First off…MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL! I love you guys, seriously.

Secondly, thank you to all the wonderful folks that blessed my season by showing tremendous love and spreading the word about my latest release Christmas at 7222, Vol. 2. Because of you, other places around the world are getting to know me and my music, so I thank you so much from the bottom of my heart.

With all that being said, I have released not one, but TWO singles from my latest project – “Thankful” and “Hymnal for the Lamented”.

“Thankful” is a deeply personal song about my relationship with my late cousin, A. Michael Martin, who passed during the early days of COVID-19 in New York. The song begins with the last voice message he ever left on my phone, and the last time I ever heard his voice. From there, I talk about how I was upset with him for a time, only to reunite with him in celebration, not knowing that 3 weeks later he would be gone. I’m sure many of you have similar stories with loved that passed, from COVID-19 or otherwise, so this song is for you. Be thankful that you were able to see them smile one last time.

“Hymnal for the Lamented” is a song dedicated to all the beautiful people we lost this year. I thought about my childhood and how I used to go caroling with my school buddies in Maryland, and how that simple act brought comfort not only to the people that were listening, but to the performers, as well. That is the feeling I want you all to feel as you’re listening to this song – comfort knowing that your loved ones are at peace.

You can listen to these songs by clicking on the videos above. Add them to your playlists and spread the word. These songs are also available on SpotifyApple MusicAmazon, and YouTube.

Once again, Happy Holidays and One Love, from yours truly…

“It’s Steph, y’all!”
